Colossians 1:9…We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives…

I’d like to point out something in this verse – notice that it doesn’t say that we should find out what God wants us to do and then go out and do it but rather we are to find out what God wants to do in our lives and allow Him to do it.
These are two completely different things! The first scenario is us going about working for God while the other is allowing God to do a transforming work in us so that we can work in union with Him! The first one is difficult and tiring while the other is joyful and energizing!
Have you ever been frustrated in life because although you’ve put much effort into it, you still have not seen much fulfillment of God’s plan for your life? But have you ever thought that some things you desire to do for God cannot be accomplished until He does a work within you first? And do you know what that work looks like?

The kind of work God wants to do in your life is to free you from all worry and fear and give you deep, unshakeable peace. (Romans 8:15) He wants to give you indescribable joy! (Colossians 1:11) He wants you to have assurance that He is for you and will give you success in life. (Romans 8:31) He wants you to understand that no matter what happens in life that His love for you is more constant than the morning sunrise. (Psalm 57:10)

God has preordained a special work for each of His children. (Eph. 2:10) But in order to accomplish that work, we must submit to Him so that we (God and us) can work together in His power! So, today allow God to do His wonderful work IN your life so that His work can be done THROUGH your life. In doing so you’ll find much rest and great joy!
